Fatima will re-send the information previously distributed to the class regarding the purchase of instruments from the MCG bookstore, and which instrument types/models are currently the most popular among students. She also emphasized that the bookstore honors all manufacturer's warranties on the equipment it sells. Fatima plans to attend the Student Affairs Committee meeting on January 26, 2004. Officers should e-mail any pertinent discussion items to Fatima. She also plans to take Rachel Chesley as a guest to this meeting, so that she may be recognized for her efforts in organizing the faculty "holiday goodie bags" last semester. Since the last meeting on January 7, two withdrawals have been made from the class account in the amounts of $511.38 and $127.51 respectively. Both withdrawals were made payable to Monica Mead - the first for expenses incurred during Freshman Brawl, and the second to cover the cost of providing the class with a doughnut breakfast. As of January 21, 2004, the class account balance stands at $10563.54. James mentioned that a portion of the class budget would need to be reserved for expenses to be incurred during the upcoming cadaver memorial service - although any expenditures from the class account will be reimbursed by the Richmond County Medical Society. The officers elected to go ahead with initial planning of the service. The status of last semester's teacher awards was discussed. The restaurant gift certificates will be ordered in the near future, and the price of plaques, certificates, and other award types will be investigated. The class roster has been updated and was distributed to the class on the evening of January 21, 2004. (Note: As of 1/24/04, Brent Moister has also agreed to post a copy of the corrected roster on the class website.) The Social VPs reported that the class "social week" activities went well, and were all generally well attended. T-shirt sales are still ongoing, and will continue until Monday, January 26th. Faculty members who might be interested in purchasing class t-shirts will be contacted in the near future. As of January 21st, thirty shirts have been ordered. Guy Register is issuing a call for pictures taken at class activities to be posted on the class bulletin board and/or included in the end-of-year slideshow. Persons with such photos may either give print copies (with the owner's name on the back of the picture) to Guy, or they may e-mail him photos in digital format. The ongoing coat drive will continue into February, with all coats collected being distributed to patients at the MCG Medical Center, the VA Medical Center, and/or the MCG Children's Medical Center. The Community Service VPs are planning a possible event at a local nursing home during the month of February. Also, plans are being investigated for a possible "alternative spring break." The Curriculum VPs presented the curriculum model approved for next year by the Phase I/II Curriculum Committee. A great deal of discussion and questioning followed, and the officers as a whole voiced their concern over possible problems that will be encountered upon implementing this model next year, specifically with regard to the issues of grading, exam appeals, and faculty issues. It was decided to allow the class to hear the concerns of the officers as well as to present their own questions at a class meeting/town hall forum on Tuesday, January 27 at 3:00 PM in room CL-1101. James will send out an e-mail announcement to the class, as well as a note of invitation to Dr. Stephanie Wragg, one of the new curriculum's chief administrators. Meeting adjourned at 12:40 PM. |
